the RL is definitely more luxury,faster, and larger than the es 300 or 330...if u were comparing the gs or ls to the rl it would b a diff story but the es is along the same lines as the TL when it come to comptetion. the RL has never had engine or tranny problems only the TL/TL from 00-03 had tranny problems which were easily fixed with the extended warranty. The TL recieves free trannys for life and acura pays for everything.(coming from a TL type S and es 300 owner). You cant compare Acura to Honda because there isnt a Honda version of the RL but there is a Toyota Version of the ES...the 04 RL is even better with the SH-AWD system which no other vehicle has. So comparing teh two vehicles is like apples and oranges. I would go for the RL, it has more features, more room, and more power than the ES. Now if u were comparing the GS or LS i would say either one of those two hands down...also the 2001 TL is def much faster than the 2001 es 300...01 es is more comfy tho but teh TL vouches for more room. I hate taking trips in my es 300 compared to my TL type S. and again honda makes faster cars, lexus as of recently has definitely made better cars than acura tho. Looking atthe IS,GS,LS models compared to the TL/RL...if u want a combination of sport and luxury go wit the acura and if u want jus luxury go wit the lexus

this was not an option until 05. 04 was the last year of that body style.

well my 00 rl was a great ride. the insurance was higher on it compared to my 99 es. gas mileage is also better in the es.

i liked the interior and exterior in the rl more.

the es is quicker to get up to speed.


both are made in japan




the tls and cls have glass trannies that are covered until 100,000 miles, i don;t think they updated that to lifetime
