ES300 6 Disc CD Changer
Hello
I Just (A few hours ago purchased my first Lexus)
1992 ES300
145000 miles (New Engine at 120000)
I paid $4300.00 Is that a good deal ?
How I came by this deal is I work for a Toyota dealer here in central CA as a Technician for the last 7 years, And a friend of mine bought this car in to the shop to replace the front pump seal on the transmission. Well I was working next to him and so as helped him out on a few things on the trans he told me it was for sale and the guy needs some money for his bills.. Enough said down to the bank next day!!!
Well what I need now is the 6 Disc CD Changer (in the trunk) It makes a grinding noise and an error sign on the head unit comes on. Took the changer apart and It loads the CD's OK but the head unit will not move.. Can move manually
Thanks for any Info
Carl

I would have a Lexus Dealer look at it first. If it is going to cost extreme amounts of money to fix, like over 400, then you should consider going to a Car Audio place and have them take out the old one, and see if they can't wire a new Pioneer changer to the old wires. I say Pioneer, because they skip less when pounded with heavy bass, and that is what your first CD player probably is.
This is all I know to do.

Hi Erfan
as you asked the question regarding "Is my power steering pump leaking" ? Yes it is so I'm going to reseal the pump with the Overhaul kit from Toyota (Where I work), and the valve cover gaskets are not leaking as my ES300 had a New motor just 15,000 miles ago. Car runs good.
Regarding my 6disc CD changer not working, I'm leaning towards a MP3 player maybe the Rio http://www.riohome.com/products/riocar.htm
What you think? Also with CD changers what work with the Lexus head unit (Don't want to use FM Modulator) and where can you buy the Pig Tail wire adaptors for the aftermarket Cd changers so you don't have to cut the lexus wiring harness.
See ya laterzz

Carl,
I always take my car in for service to a Toyota dealership and would like to know if you guys are good at working on LS and GS series as well in your service dept.? As for the CD changer to hook to your wiring harness is going to be tough to find, unless you try and order from Lexus a direct drop in replacement part.
Good luck
Erfan

I have a 1997 Es3 and I'm trying to add a cd changer to it. Someone told me how to find the wiring underneath the dash but can I buy any brand cd changer to fit or does it have to be a lexus changer.
