Default Speedometer Lighting?

I have a problem with the lighting on the speedometer on my 92 es 300. Half of The speedometer lights up. The half that doesnt like up is the Temp-RPM. The other half containing the Speed and Gas Icons Show. Any idea how could i light up the whole thing?? I checked all the fuses too. thanks. please help.

Sounds like you have some burnt out backligting bulbs inside your instrument cluster. There are 8 of them. I would suggest if you take the cluster apart to replace them, you replace ALL of them. Never know when the remaining ones will burn out as well, and you don't really want to have to do it twice. The replacement bulbs are cheap and can be purchased at just about any auto parts store. You DON'T have to buy them from Lexus, unless of course you have lots of money you want to waste

Here's a link to more info on how to remove the cluster and replace the bulbs. LEDs are also an option, instead of the OEM incandescent bulbs....they last waaaay longer than the OEM bulbs and come in different colors. Only thing is you usually have to order them online instead of picking them up at a store.

Good luck.

$10 for Leds. The lighting is more uneven than incandescent...and spotting is easy to see during the day, but at night, is a great compromise over the yellow oem bulbs.

Does anyone know if bulbs from other model years will fit the 94 cluster? For example 2001 bulbs in a 1994 cluster?

If half of the cluster bulbs don't light up, you could try banging the dashboard trim above the instrument gauge cluster with your hand a few times and see if the lights come back on. This method has worked for a few of the members here. Sometimes they get a little loose from the connection with the sockets after some time.
