Wassup? I recently bought a lexus es300 with 153,000 miles. I have the check engine light coming up, i check it and got the code:=== Primary Error Code ===
Error Code: P0773
Description : TCM Shift Solenoid 'E' (SL) Circuit Malfunction
Possible Causes: * SL control circuit is open or shorted to ground
* SL control circuit is shorted to system power (B+)
* SL is damaged or has failed (an electrical fault)
* PCM has failed
Does any body know what the problem could be?
Also , when I bought the car, the passenger side mirror housing was broken a peice at the corner, I wanted to get that replaced, does any body kno where i could purchase that?
BTW When I change gears, I feel like a kick if i really press the pedal down, I dunno if thats normal or not.. any help appreciated. Thanks

The error code means that your transmission is not shifting right, thus the reason why you're feeling the "kick" when you mash the gas pedal. I'd get the malfunctioned solenoid replaced ASAP, otherwise you will get into an accident on the road with a faulty transmission.
The side mirror housing part can be found at various sources but check Ebay and/or your local salvage yard first. As a last resort, go to your Lexus dealer to purchase the part.

^ Not sure on how much to replace the solenoid but you could give a call to your Lexus dealer and get a price quote plus labor. I've had experience with it before when I had my '01 ES as the transmission was suddenly failing on me as I was driving on a local road one day with no traffic. The tranny did not allow me to upshift so I couldn't go faster than 35 mph. The result was a faulty solenoid (D or E) and I had to get the entire transmission replaced at half of the cost my Lexus dealer quoted (thanks to my extended warranty).

I paid around $1,200 for a remanufactured tranny from another '01 ES (parts and labor included). I believe the original quote was close to $3K for everything, but thanks to my extended warranty the Lexus dealer footed 60% of the costs.
