I recently got my front end redone, i.e. strut mounts and shocks, and let me tell you, it was quite a change. For the better of course. The car drives so much more smoother and dead quiet, even over bad roads. You will be happy.

I need to do mine as well. About how much roughly will it cost to replace the strut mounts and shocks?

I'll be getting my car back in about 30 min... The bill was 271.00
It consisted of front end alignment, and Labor for struts and strut mounts.. So all said and done it was about 520.00 for the whole job.. I supplied my own parts... Does this seem like a good price..
I really wanted the monroe struts but the total cost of the job would have been much more..
Anyway i'll check back later.. ![Thumb Up](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

Well i picked up the car and the first thing i noticed right away is that the Lexus feel is pretty much back.. ![Thumb Up](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
There's a slight vibration in the steering wheel but remember that all the other suspension parts have 88k on them.. Next up maybe ball joints and tie rods..
Well, the thump noise is finally gone and i have to say that I'mm 99.9% sure it was the strut mounts.. I've read that these go bad on the ES's and they sure do.. THe car is solid now with a solid feel to the road.. I would highly reccomend these parts especially if the car is up there in miles..
Next week i'll probably get another alignment this time by a family owned company called Weber Wheel in West Palm.. They do all there cars by hand and the work is flawless..
Thanks again for your help and input..
Tony

You all can save $$ by doing this install yourself. Only special tool you need is a spring compressor (and maybe a torque wrench if you really wanted).
Strut is held on the knuckle by 2 - 22mm bolt, brake line bolt (12 mm) and the stabilizer link bolt (allen head screw w/ 14 mm bolt) and 3 - 14 mm bolts on top of the fender area. Very easy to take out......
If you are mechanically inclined in anyway......you can do this, just take your time and do one side at a time so you have a reference side to compare to in case you can't remember where things go.

Is that with all struts? The $500 i was charged is for all 4 w/o alignment. I've shopped around for the labour and thats about what its goin for. I wish i knew a good mechanic. haha
