Default i have rim trouble i think, help

i orded my 18 inch rims and they came with 4 black plastic rings that go into the center of the wheel to hold it perfectly center on the hub. are those plastic pieces vital or are they only to make life easier when aligning the studs so i can get to locknuts on. Do they provide any support cause i completly broke 2 of them trying to lump hammer them into the rim. Later i found out if i just bolt the rim on to the car it forces the plastic pieces in with no damage. so 2 wheels have them and 2 dont. does it matter?

they are centering rings.....some manufacturers require them with aftermarket wheels. I would call them up and see if you can get 2 replacements.

well originally they accidently sent me 18" by 8.5" and they were too wide so i had to send them back. but they sent me lug nuts and alignment rings. i took notice that the inside of the 8.5 rim were the lug nuts go were flat. now i sent the rims back to have them send me the 7.5 wide rims . the 7.5" wide rims had the lug nuts slots tapered and sent me them with no alignment rings. do i not need the rings with the 7.5 cause the lugs nuts and the rim are tapered and that by itself will center it or do the rings provide support?
