ayyyy.... just to give you an example of what i'm dealing with here:
this is what's embedded in the paint. it's really, REALLY in there. so running clay over it till the surface is smooth gets you this:
then i just keep on until it looks like this:
i have gone through two big bottles of clay lubricant. i think i'm going to have to get a new clay bar to finish the hood, it's so bad.

okay.
2 clay bars
3 bottles of meguiar's quik detailer
10 hours of my time(!)
2 sore arms
1 hyperextended calf muscle (reaching for center of roof panel)
and it's done. and of course, it's dark outside. damn!

Great job on the claying. I'm surprised it only took 2 bars! Next time you might want to get something to step on instead of reaching Can't wait to see what it looks like without all those scratches and swirls. Your 250 is coming along quite nicely!

yeah, i'm a hardass like that. getting something to stand on was a distraction. :P
i got all the crud off the gold plastic panels, and threw a coat of caranuba on it just now to add some shine and have something protecting that clear coat. it just keeps on getting better! though since i skipped the polishing step (mainly i didn't want to spend the money on a polish right now) there are still some blemishes in the clear coat.
again, it's dark out... so we're shooting final-for-now pics after i get home from work tomorrow.
