Unhappy Major hassle: the cupholder

Okay, this isn't a huge crisis...but boy I really do hate the cupholder in my 2001 ES300. Don't get me wrong...I love the car (its my fist Lexus) as do all my family and friends. But that cupholder's gotta go!!! It's so shallow that it won't hold my cup of soda or latte when I turn . I resolved that today, I've cleaned up my last soda that's been spilled all over the passenger seat and floor. I've looked all over the net, and thought sure I'd find a poduct that someone was selling esp. for the ES300 that would fit down into or attach to the current cupholder. I don't really want to mount one to any of the surfaces on my car....

Any recommendations?? Thanks!

yup... that's the worst thing.... you can only attach a cup holder to the vent of the a/c and/or heater. They're like 20 bucks... don't look so good but they hold it tight.. when you are not drinking just take it off... 2 seconds...

Thumbs down

My 92's cupholders are pointless for full pop cans -- they spill at any speed on any turn

You shouldnt even be drinking in the car, that is a accident waiting to happen. I personally dont drink sodas or soft drinks at all and havent for three years now, they are a waste of calories and junk But, the cupholder in the vent is a great idea and works well.

Thumbs up Great Subject!

Thanks TexasSpeedway for bringing-up the subject of inadaquate cup holders. My '99's cup holders are terrible! When I go to put a drink in them, I have to hold onto it whenever I turn a corner otherwise it gets dumped all over the place (hasn't happened yet because I hold on to them when driving). Its too bad that Lexus didn't design this aspect a little better as some other car manufacturers have.

If anyone at all knows of an adapter of some sort that fits on to the existing cup holder and can collapse into the cupholder so it can open and close, please let us know. Looks like this problem isn't an isolated incident! My take on the whole thing is: If your gonna design in cupholders, at least make them functional for even the standard size cup, can or bottle.

Just me 2 Lincoln's worth!

Scott.

Thumbs down Cupholders

I also have the same problem with my cupholders, but that isn't what really bothers me. What really bothers me is that the ash tray and cupholders can't be used at the same time. I don't smoke, but I do have the problem of pluggin up my radar detector and having a drink there. I don't drink in my car, but if I pick up some fast food, i need to set my drink there while i drive home. i don't really think i can do anything about this, but i was just complaining.
