Welcome to CL.
Congrats on the new ES, you will definitely enjoy it more than the Jetta. You should post up some pics of the interior, don't think I have ever seen a non leather 3rd gen ES. Pretty cool!

Your 1MZ-FE 3.0 L (2994 cc) engine is an interference engine.
If you want to read a little bit about it, you can here.
Here's a good reference about the Lexus ES in general. You can bone up on information about your 3rd generation ES specifically.
It's always admirable to know thy ride, and you've definitely found the right place to learn.

Interference
I think your 99 actually is an interference engine, someone posted this link in another topic that i discovered yesterday, should help you more specifically.

I don't know the origin for that chart/table you provided but it is possibly more reliable than one of the posts I based my response on from here.
Gates.com is often given as a reference for interference/non-interference, water pump, timing belt, etc. information as well. Here's the link for their "Is your engine an interference engine?" section.
There's also another TN thread here, that covers the topic, in reference to an original CL thread here. That last link makes me think it's safer to assume it IS an interference engine and not risk it, especially given the direct response from a Lexus representative in post #4.
Luckily we have several 1MZ hands-on experts on this site who can chime in here and tell us for sure.
