Default lexus es 300 bulb

guys, could someone help me figure out why to as my lexus es 300 has H4 pair as the low beam while silverstar guide say to use H7?!?!? The reason why I'm asking this is because I try putting the H7 in and it doesn't work because the rubber bulb is too big for the H7 prongs to go through to fit into the plug. I don't know how they change the rubber bulb and I really need to get better bulbs because if it wasn't for the help of my fog light, I cannot see the highway at all and this is very dangerous

please help so I can consult the dealership at once!

First of all, what year is your ES300? If 97-01 it should be H7, unless equipped with HID. I actually have some PIAA Xtreme White bulbs in H7 for sale.

its a 98....... i tried to use the silverstar H7 but like I said it will not fit because of that rubber protector piece thingy so water doesn't get in so I went to exchange it for H4 because it looks exactly like the one I removed before I got those H7's

Have you taken out the existing halogen bulbs and compared them with the new ones?

If you haven't even taken out / accessed the existing bulbs then you're forgetting to remove that rubber protector. Grab those H7s, they're the right fitment for sure.

lol guys guys ...... i know H7 is the right bulb for it but I just want to know how the heck the previous owner before me is able to find a H4 rubber protector for it? I even let the autozone guys installed it and he say the H7 does not fit because of that rubber stopper

@sash.... the original bulb I did mentioned is the H4 size when I bought the car :\ I don't quite understand this.........

I want to ask to make sure so I can take to the dealership and let them take a look at it, but I don't want to also be charged like couple hundreds just cause it's a "Lexus" you know?

keep posting please....

Take some pics for us. Autozone guys usually don't know more than the average person.

I am with everyone else on this one. If it is an ES300 97-01, the bulb should be an H7. ( halogen headlamp of course)

yea the bulb SHOULD be an H7 but somehow the autozone guys told me to use the H4 just because it fit..... I brought the car finally to a dealer and they told me that the bulb that was in there was the wrong one to begin with. He said the rubber part however is the stock part but I'm not sure he knows eventhough he is the technician because if it was the stock part, why would it NOT FIT an H7 in the first place when I tried it?!?!?!?!

Gosh it so hard to get true help these days when it comes to cars from dealers!

I remember you have to remove the rubber boot put snap the bulb in and put the boot back on but we really need pics to be sure.

ok I found the culprit......... the guy before me change EVERYTHING....... the rubber boot or what you so called it is design for the H4, the plug is also altered to fit the H4 bulb!!!! I try just seeing if the plug will fit into the H7 without putting it in the housing, and it doesn't because only one of the prong fit into the plug, the other is too wide for it!!!

I wonder how much will it cost for lexus to put in a different plug and different boot? I live in US. Anyone knows?
