Default noisy engine

I bought my 2002 es 300 several months ago, and I don’t know if I’m just starting to notice this, but the engine is noisy when the car is in idle, especially when the A/C is running. Is that unusual? The car does have 94K on it.
thanks.

whenever the A/C is running it is normal for an engine to be louder than usual. Although it is difficult to judge just by your words. Maybe you can test drive another 2002 ES300 and compare the differences? If you do notice a difference, perhaps it may be the engine mounts, or a squeaky accessory belt.

Listen with the hood up while a helper cycles the AC. If a clunking noise stops with the AC off, check for loose compresser mounting bolts. If its a squeeling noise, spray some water on the belts to see if it changes.
