Question dad wants es300. does Lexus discount off MSRP?

I want to get an idea of how much 2002 ES300s are selling for. I began getting quotes from dealers today. I spoke with one so far. Lexus of Cherry Hill said they don't move off MSRP. I don't believe this.

Last Dec, I ordered a 2002 BMW 325XI and got $1300 off MSRP for April delivery. Now I would bet the farm that if BMW dealers are discounting most all wheel drive 3-series models then Lexus ES300s are being discounted also. Supply and demand, right?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Believe it. Most '02 ES300s are sold by the time they hit the lot. If they discount at all, it probably won't be more than $1000. Some people have reported up to $2000 off. Don't count on it.

Of course they sale ES300 below MSRP. Go to www.msn.com then to auto section, select new, lexus, ES300 and go through the motion of picking the equipment. At the end you will get a list of dealers who are participating and the price they will charge you. Nobody pays MSRP, if they are smart.

Never underestimate the value of a CPA!

Yes, it's true that most '02 ES300s are being pre-sold.
But pricing depends on where you are.
If you're in a place with few Lexus dealers, then prices will be higher. There's no reason for the dealers to discount when they're pre-selling their allocation at MSRP.

If you're in a place loaded with Lexus dealers, then pricing gets good. In southern California where there's a dozen or more Lexus dealers, the dealers will undercut each other to get your business. I know a guy who got $3600 off MSRP on a fully loaded '02 ES back in November.

So just get the best deal that you can for your area. The only quotes from others you get that will matter are those in the same area as you.

Default Discount

I got over $2500 off a 02 ES300at Cherry Hill Lexus!
Just tell them you are considering a 02 TL Type S...They cringe at that! $36,500 for a ES, $31,500 for a Typs S with 50 more horsepower. I was looking for luxury for my wife, not sport or performance. I would wait a while though until they sort out the tranny...this new 5 speed does not like to shift smooth...several others said the same thing...

Default Joe,

I'm from Phila. I called Cherry Hill. They have been trying to get me to visit their dealership.

Would you email me who your sales rep was? jaisonline@hotmail.com.

Interesting point on the 5spd tranny. When I drove the pre production ES300's back at the Lexus Ride & Drive out here in So Cal, the shifts were not exactly smooth like butter. These were the same test mules that the magazines drove.

I just purchased a 2002 ES-300 for $32998, about $2300 under MSRP.

You need to do your homework first to get a good price, may I suggest you do a search on GOOGLE for
[how to buy a new car]

BTW, Carsdirect.com did NOT give me the best price!

Good luck,

aerodyne
