I believe 97 was the first gen 3 year, and I'm pretty sure it has a transponder chip.

Maybe I'm wrong - I don't see a 97 listed!

matheny - this could be huge for me. I was doing the first lock/unlock step on remote programming using the manual lock and unlock buttons because that's what my set of instructions said. I'm going to try this new method and see if it works for my existing masters...thanks!!

I also did not know that if the locks cycle by themselves twice this is an indication of failure - though it makes total sense now!

I downloaded about half a dozen "instructions" that didn't work before I came across this site, and it worked first time!

I bet the 97 also has a transponder. The 98 instructions will probably work.

I just purchased a new master remote key foe my 2000 lexus es300 and it will manually lock/unlock the doors, but it will not crank the car. I've tried programming it several times but, when I get to step 15, it stops working. can anyone help please?
