hey hows it going everyone well i've got a 2000 es300 just a bit over 103000 kms on it and the coolant in the tank is a bit on the low side so i was wanting to do a top up on the system what i wanted to know was is it fairly easy to flush the coolant system on our cars? i was thinking of doing this at home instead of the dealer to save about 200 bucks on my next lexus service which will be a tranny flush and injectors/ivac cleanout anyways all help is appreciated, oooh and i also picked up a jug of the coolant at the dealer if i do a top up i should just mix it with water right? thanks guys I LOVE THIS CAR lols

I've never done a DIY coolant flush, so someone else will have to give you info on that. But with regards to the coolant, I believe Toyota sells two types of coolant. One is premixed and you don't dilute it, the other needs to be diluted (usually 50:50) with DISTILLED (not tap) water. It should state on the container which type of coolant you have.
A tip for you:
You might want to consider taking your car to a Toyota dealership for servicing instead of to Lexus. Since the ES is based on the Toyota V6 Camry platform, the Toyota techs will be very familiar with its mechanical systems. You can usually save quite a bit of $$$ that way both in parts and labour.

I did a coolant flush in my 95' earlier this year with the help of my bro.. The only hard part if your not so savvy like myself is taking the thermostat apart.
I remember unplugging the radiator plug, sticking a hose down the radiator tube, turning the car on with the heater on high, and with a bucket under the car, letting it flush for 20 sec or so. Oh yea, my bro mentioned you have to do this with the thermostat off, to allow all the fluid from the block out, or something like that.
Before the flush, the fluid would always be a tan/brown color. Since it stays green/yellow..
Hope that helped little.

i have done a few radiator flush in my days of owning a 93 ES300.. you don't just want to flush the radiator, you should flush the whole system itself. You'll need about an hour or so for this job. well i guess here go's a write up..
items:
Preston radiator flush
gallon of distill water(should be label "DISTILL")
Toyota coolant
wrench
and a case of beer.
Here go:
1 drain coolant from radiator.
2 refill radiator with water and run the engine for about 15minuts so it gets the rest of the coolant from the engine out.
3 shut off engine, drain water and refill it with Preston radiator flush & top it off with water.
4 after 15 minutes or so of running the engine, drain it, and refill it with water and another 15 minutes. i do it one more time just to make sure everything is out.
5. finally you refill it with the mix of coolant and distill water. make sure you start the engine with the radiator cap off so the air can come out after that you're good to go.

At least on my RX300, there's a radiator drain plug in this location shown below.
On the 1MZFE, there is a drain plug near the passenger side front tire, near the accessory pully closest to the firewall and on the front of the engine block, but the radiator plug gets a sufficient amount out by its own.
