Question Weird problems

hello,

i recently bought a 1998 Lexus ES300 with 120,000 miles on it. When i bought it everything was fine, until the next day...

the first thing i noticed was weird was the clock randomly going out. A couple taps will get it working again.

Then the most annoying thing was when i open the door after unlocking it, the interior lights don't turn on anymore. not even the light surrounding the key hole turned on.

Another thing, the auto headlamps don't turn off by themselves anymore, either.

some help?
TIA,
Patrick

I think the door sensor (the little black **** thing in the door jamb) is either stuck or broken. The door sensor controls the interior courtesy lights and turns off the auto on/off when you open your door.

Haha, I was just about to say that since I got that problem too . All you have to do to check that is to jab at that thing until the lights come on. If they don't then its obviously something else

so i was playing around with it, and it wouldn't work. But, in the afternoon it started to suddenly work again. then later at night it wouldn't work again. and it still didn't work in the morning, and then by afternoon it worked again. therefore, i'm going to go ahead and say when it's cold (35 or lower) the door pin seems to be inactive. any fixes?

Sorry, but my advise is not going to be as good as the ones before..

Just wanted to say that when I first got mines, 95'.. All the needles and tires were good.. 1 week later the needles went out except for the gas, and the tires went flat... Had to get all four fixed at firestone..

But anyways, welcome to CL!!
