Doing this mod without the CD Changer?
As I've read, you need the CD Changer attached and functioning so the deck will recognize it and keep the CD selection selected. You might test it to be sure, but I imagine the deck will still have the connections even if you don't have the CD Changer.

I ended up having to cut 2 holes with my Dremel. The first one was 1/8" too far back. The mount for the wood trim was just barely in the way, and I didn't want to cut it. Also, I had to move the final slot forward enough so that there was enough wood material to brace the iPod mount to.
I'm letting y'all in on my secret. To everyone else, that's my standby mount (when I don't want the iPod connected).

It was tough deciding where to mount the iPod. I wanted it visible so I could change songs and view info easily and constantly.
When the drink holder is down, the top half of the iPod is covered. I decided to live with that.
The drink holder can still be opened and closed without touching the iPod.

Here's the underside. The mount is created from a metal bracket which is screwed & glued to the wood trim. The iPod cable is glued to the metal bracket.
I put on the glue and tie-wrapped the cable in place and then connected my iPod so it would dry in the position I wanted it.
The glue is Gorilla Glue. AWESOME stuff! The tie-wrap could be cut off now.

Oh yeah. One last thing.
The iPod cable had metal clips which attach to the iPod. I shaved those off since I would need it to come off when I pulled from the topside. It's plenty tight without them.
>>That way you don't have to pull off the wood trim to squeeze the sides of the cable to release the iPod<< heheh

You can use Sound Recorder to record a blank piece of audio.
Start > Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Sound Recorder
Press record with nothing plugged in to your audio input and nothing playing on your PC. A few seconds is all you need.
Then save it as a .wav file in this format:
PCM 44.100 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo
Now burn an audio CD with that file. Ta-Daaa!

Hmmm...
You can see the rocker side in the pic on the first page here.
The switch is a DPDT switch. I think that is Di-Pole, Di-Terminal.
There are 2 terminals in the middle which are always connected at the switch. There are 2 terminals on either side of the middle. When the switch is slanted to the (let's just say) right, the terminals on the right are connected to the middle. When the switch is pressed to the left, the terminals on the left are connected to the middle.
...anyone need a diagram???
