A friend of mine is a nys trooper and I told him about the acura TL projector retrofit i'm planning. Now he said that law comes down to the discretion of the officer so if you do it right and it looks stock then you won't get a ticket and the only reason its in place is to stop people from blinding people with PNP kits.

I think part of the reason why many people buy >6000k kits is that they don't understand that the color/flicker emitted by factory HID lights comes from the projector and not the color of the bulb.......a common misconception. The only reason why I offer my opinion on the subject is that it based on fact and that is that >6000k becomes something that is for show and not functional. It is also a magnet for cops. At the end, I know people have different opinions and do as they will. I just hope that sometimes people think before they act on their free will.

I say get the HID kit off of ebay. Chances are that it will last more than one year. Xenondepot only offers a 1 yr warranty and after that you are on your own, so it would be the same deal. And you would be a lot fatter in the wallet.
I have an HID kit that I bought off of ebay, at least the ballasts are. The bulbs I upgraded to 5000k, so they are not the ebay bulbs but Phillips. But it has been over a yr and the ballasts fire up the bulbs on the first try every time with no problems whatsoever. I do have a set of OEM ballasts off of a GS430 for backup purposes if one of my ballasts should fail. Also have extra set of bulbs. A good idea if you ever need to do a replacement and don't want to go to the dealer and get raped.

I've decided I'm going to go with 6000k so I can the most out of the brightness. Also, Seems like it is unanimous that H&R springs are the way to go, so those are going on first, and then the Whiteline rear sway bar...
As for the rims, I'm still gonna keep looking for a good price for IS300 or Avalon SE rims. And I probably will get the ebay strut bar, although it would mostly be for looks. If I get more cash then I expected, I'll get some kyb struts too, but first things come first.
Thank you all for your comments, they have been very helpful in my decision.

6000k is not the brightest. 4300k is the brightest because it is pure white and has the most lumens. HID-equipped vehicles come with 4300k from the factory because of this. 6000k is more of a functional compromise between brightness and blueness.

Hmm, rear strut bar, I'm on the hunt...
Hey Rim guys, know if this will fit?

I really love the look of those Avalon rims, and I think i could just replace the Toyota center cap with my Lexus one too!

Yessir they fit perfectly, but I can tell you now that the stock centercaps from your ES wheels wont fit. I searched for some Lexus ones that would fit after I got my rims, and the only ones I found were for a certain LS430 wheel. But those caps were painted silver, and if you get the Avalon rims you will notice that it has a machined/polished finish. If you put the L caps on they would just look weird. Besides it says Toyota on every piece of glass on the car, why not the wheels too?

Lol, damn, I got my hopes up. They are the only OE rims that have made me question if they were aftermarket and they are relatively cheap too. How happy are you with the rims?

I really think they are the perfect wheel for this car aesthetically and performance-wise. Don't let the center cap issue hinder your purchase, if you like em then get them! You won't be disappointed.
