Remote Gas Door Latch
First let me say this forum is great.
Lots of good info, that helped out tremendously in the purchase of our ES300, a first lexus product for us.
Thanks.
Now to the question.
The only thing I can find wrong with her is the gas door is sticking. I can push the button, hear the pop, but it won't spring open. If I put pressure on the left side, I could get it to open twice out of four attempts.
Planning on taking it to the dealer saturday afternoon, but thought I'd ask first. Plan on putting many tankfuls in this car over the holidays.
Any info would be appreciated.

Wooo Hooo let me be the first to say WELCOME to CL... I would first try to spray some lubricant on the mechanism after you get it to open and maybe save yourself a few bucks...

1. there's a gas door release handle in the trunk if it gets stuck closed
2. I had a piece of plastic break and i couldn't pop my gas door so I put a metal clip in there and it applies enough pressure that when I push the button the door pops open.
3. you can try some lubricant, but all that button does is slide a rod out of the way so the door can pop
4. welcome to the forum. I'm new here too, and these guys are great!

After closely examining it this weekend, I found that there use to be a tab piece at the swing side of the door. The service guy @ the local dealer was useless, but he did make it up to me by cutting me a deal on a key.
Anyway, I fabricated me a spring (out of an old cam centerline setup kit) so it sits right on top of the gas lead, and bolts to the tab that the cable from the trunk slides into, and it works perfect.
Pops it open about 2 inches from inside the car, and from the trunk.
