My daughter's ES300 Auto 180k just bagan sputtering, eventually died, not overheating, billows of white smoke out tailpipe, smells bad, recent timing belt change..... is this the head gasket?????
Is it worth repairing, or is it better to get an used engine from Japan?? (anybody ever buy one of those??).

Evidently the guy who changed her T-belt didn't replace the oil that escaped... or something like that.

I was on same page as you jsm1284, but I just figured it out... they did an oil change at same time as timing belt, and rushed. They forgot to drain the oil out of pan, added oil, and then oil was mashed passed the rings, and the resistance to the crank and so forth caused engine to die. That's the best I can come up with lol
