Default what spark plugs to get?

hey all... man I think my jerking, shaking and whatever thump my car is making is all due to the spark plugs getting replaced. My friend's technician reccommend getting japanese spark plug, the brand is Denso. Should I trust him and go with that one, he selling it at 6 bucks a plug, i need 6 of them for the v6 es300 of mine.

He said don't get american brand or titanium or whatever ..... who should I trust? Or can I just go to the lexus dealer and let them charge me 12 bucks or so a plug plus expensive labor?

As long as they are Denso or NGK. Do not put anything else. What year is your car? If its a 98, Here you go. Those are the part numbers. Id say go witht the NGK's. And they are Platinum plugs.

Denso PK20TR11
NGK BKR6EKPB11

Chime in on me if I'm wrong, but somewhere on this forum earlier someone said that NGK's are Densos, or something like that. Is this right?

Either or will work. Don't take it to the dealer. Just buy it check the gap (these days they are usually pre-gapped) to spec, remove the old and install the new. It's that easy.

Apart from the plugs, tell me more about this jerking and shaking, do you have a check engine light?

hey lexmex no check engine light.... the car shakes only when I press on the gas! No matter what speed I am at... ie.. 0-30 40-70 or what not, it just shakes vigorously and the left front tire is making like a clank clank noise. Firestone told me before the left front tire needs something but they said its not important to change it yet.

The car also shakes if I keep a constant speed here and there at random times! Like one minute I am driving at 70mph smoothly the next minute it shakes then I have to let go then press on the gas again. I hope this problem is caused by the spark plugs and nothing else.

I would check your tranny fluid level and condition as that is something that can cause that and not throw a CEL. Another thing mentioned is that although Denso has the OEM plug, you want to make sure they put on the right size gapped plug. Use the wrong gap and you can wind up with some sucky combustion and abrupt engine behavior resulting in some jarring shaking as well.

That clanking on that side could be a busted cartridge in the shock (or a loss of fluid). Sometimes the bushing on the lower suspension arm can go bad and also cause that clank. I have that clank on my right side due to a busted shock and got some new KYB GR-2 shocks that I will put on after the holidays.

Depends where you get them, a bit over $100 USD each. Try our sponsor www.tirerack.com

You can shake the shock or raise the front of the vehicle slightly and shake the suspension components.

I am going to do a shock install DIY in January.

Just go to Kragen (or any other auto store) and get the NGK's.

On startup this morning, my wife's '02 ES shook for a few seconds (maybe about 10-15 seconds). It was the coldest morning of the year where I'm at (about 24 degrees). The engine also acted a little undecided of what RPM it wanted to be at. My first thought was that it was nothing but I should go and have the fluids checked to be safe. After a little searching on this site, I'm wondering if the spark plugs could be a culprit. Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Also, my '04 ES cranked up with no shakes right beside hers a few seconds before.
