Es300
GREETING TO ALL. I just joined Club Lexus Forums and purchased a CPO 2002 ES300 with 36,453 miles from a Lexus Dealer. I was reading some of the posts from 5/23/05 by steviej. He stated that there is a new TSB (TC003-04R) that is the "fix" for the hesitation(transmission) problem. As of today, I feel a slight hesitation when starting out, feel the quick shift to second gear and normal shifting to highway speed. Although I just bought the car on 12/18/07, I was wondering if the shifting would get worse or stay the same? The salesman told me, after I brought it to his attention of the complaints I read about in this forum, that my car was not effected and the service manager wants me to drive the car for 1,000mi.'s so the computer could learn my "style" of driving. Does anyone know if the fix worked for good or was it a temp. fix. Should I be concerned about this car? or request the new download be done to it(TC003-04R)? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks, George.

I suggest that you DON'T do this upgrade! The reason being, that's it's irreversible. In other words, once they do the flash you can not go back to the previous shift timing, so if you don't like it you're stuck with it.
I had my Lexus dealer do all the TSB upgrades on my '03 Es300 to try to eliminate these transmission hesitation problems and they never worked. In fact, I hated the last flash so much that I traded in my car for an ES350. This problem started with the '02 ES and continued to the '06 ES.
If you have some time, read some of the posts that I started in 2003 concerning this problem. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums...showtopic=3584
