Default 99 ES Armrest/Power Port Removal - Noob

Hey everyone,

Slowly but surely, the collective is switching over to Lexus allegiance. Me first (SC then LX), then mom with her RX (ditching her Honda), now my bro, slowly easing his Legend to pasture in exchange for the 99 ES.

So...he buys a fairly cherry ride with 59k on the odo (yeah, I know...granny drove it), with a penny wedged in the power outlet in the armrest console. Pulls out the penny, changes the fuse...no dice. I'm thinking there's a fusible or a fuse in the wiring. How to get in there and replace the power socket?

So he hasn't joined yet, but I told him to get on here, and sign up the VIN with Lexus.com. Any other suggestions to a newbie ES owner would be appreciated.

Let me ask differently. How about the fusible link to the power socket in the console...where is that located?

Thanks for any feedback.

I believe it's inside the instrument panel junction box located on the far left side of the dash behind the small pull-out box. The box will come out fairly easily. The legend for the fuses is on label on the inside of the pull-out box. It's a 15 amp fuse. Also, the car comes with a fuse puller. It's inside the large j-box under the hood behind the battery.
