Exclamation My ES is sick

So today i was driving and out of nowhere my engine starts misfiring. Its not an occasional skip, its definitely a dead miss on at least one cyl. Not being at work today because of the holiday all I was able to do was pull the front 3 wires and check spark and its there. The thing im nervous about though is my overflow went completely empty since Saturday. I topped it off. Tomorrow im gonna take a look at the cap and rotor even though i changed them not too long ago. Got my fingers crossed my head gaskets arent blown.

Well the way you described it just sounds like a misfire. Doesn't sound like a blown gasket to me, unless there is oil and coolant mixed. Im sure all you might need is a cap/dist/ or some sparks and maybe a coil. <--one of those is probably bad.

I know you maintain that ES pretty well, there shouldn't be a big problem.

Yea ive got a spare coil in my box at work so ill look into that. The oil looks good as well as the coolant, but today there wasnt a whole lot i could do. Ill check it out tomorrow and check for white smoke in the morning.

Well i was able to find out what the problem was. The #5 plug was covered in oil, so when I pulled the valve cover off the seal was not seated all the way and the tube tore it, allowing oil to enter. It was clearly my screwup I admit.... whoops.. And the radiator support seal was pouring under pressure. But im relieved thats all thats wrong. I got a new radiator coming from 1-800 radiator, should arrive by the end of the week. Im in no way gonna risk overheating it. So until then shes gonna sit at the shop then shell be good as new! For now i got the 95 Volvo 850 company car.

Wow, that's great news! I was dreading the thought of your baby having H. gasket problems. In fact, after reading your post a couple of days ago I had a dream that night that all of a sudden all the coolant in my reservoir was gone and I had the same problem! I was sure glad to realize it was just a nightmare when I woke up!

Being an ES fanatic can be very unsettling at times !

Glad to read it was only a problem such as this, and not something much worse(). Keep her running strong and long!
