Common Timing Belt - 1998 and 2003 ?
I stumbled across this excellent thread on ES300 timing belt replacement. I noticed that the timing belt part number seems to be the same for several different model years, and that the Toyota and Lexus parts are the same. The part number I was planning to use is MITSUBOSHI Part # 1356809080 for our 1998 ES300. This is the same P/N found in the thread for a 1993 ES300. However, the 1993 and 1998 engines are listed as using different length timing belts. Since the thread started out with the 2003 model year, I thought I should check. I thought that the 1997 through 2001 Toyota Camry and ES 300 engines were the same.
Anyway, I found the timing belt at Rock Auto for $13.51 plus $7.00 shipping. It's listed for a 1998 TOYOTA CAMRY 3.0L 2995cc V6 MFI (F) [1MZFE]. This is the 211 tooth belt. Is this the one I need?
Also, is the 2003 R & R procedure shown in this thread fairly similar to the one I should follow for our 1998 model? I only plan to replace the timing belt and drive belts based on age, since the car only has 20,000 miles on the odometer. I figure the water pump, seals, tensioner, etc. should be good to go.
Thanks in advance for anyone's assistance.

Thanks for the prompt response. For everyone's info, I just called Lexus and they verified - again - that the pre-1999 1MV-FE engines are non-interference. So, no worries for now. I think I'll wait and maybe change it this summer.

Just found this thread after searching timing belt replacement. Are the timing marks the same for a 2004 ES330? Can I basically follow these instructions for a 2004 ES330.
Thanks,
Gary
