newbie alert - looking for good parts places online
Hi there
I'm new to Lexus; our other car is an MBE320 4matic. Loving the Lexus so far It's a 2000 ES300 w/ 85K miles on it.
Questions on parts:
I called my local stealership. here is what i need and what they priced each part:
1. battery for remote key - $15.00 (I'm fine paying that...)
2. all weather floor mats - $120 (NOT okay paying that. any suggestions on OEM rubber mats online? ebay? just checked and would rather have OEM)
3. second key - $260 (ridiculous - anyone know if a different dealership has cheaper pricing on keys that can be cut and coded from afar? Or at least can sell me the hardware so I can take it to a dealership to cut and code?)
4. cd changer magazine for nakamichi audio system (glovebox changer) - $60. Again, anyone know where I can get a cheaper magazine? I've been able to find magazines for other cars online for about $20-$30.
5. car did not come with an owner's manual; is the dealer they only place for this, is there an electronic version online, and if not, how much does the dealer charge for a copy?
thanks guys

welcome to cl first of all.
as for battery you should be able to find anywhere. its simple to do yourself. and the battery is i believe if i remember right a cr2016 size. yeap it is. and only costs like $2.
cd changer magazine you could probably find on ebay.
all weather floor mats, walmart
keys, youre kinda screwed. look at the design of the key. its far different technology than the standard house key.
goodluck

Owners manual should be on Lexus dot com. Just register as a owner and you can have a manual mailed to you, or download a pdf.

wow, thanks for the tip on radio shack for the battery!!
tuan, i tend to agree w/ you about the mats.
i did not find any cd magazine for this radio on ebay. is paying $60 silly if i can't find it online? isn't there a good OEM parts warehouse kinda place online for these items, or no?
i guess you're right, i'm screwed on the key. it'll have to wait; we can get by with one for now. i'm hoping the only problem with our key is the battery as the remote doesn't work.
thanks also for the tip on the manual!

also, the guy at the parts dept. told me that if i disconnect the car battery and replace w/ a new one (bought a duralast today) my premium audio system will NOT demand a code for me to re-use my stereo. looking for confirmation just to be 100% on that as i'm changing it out tonight.

i can start a new thread, but after i drove away from the dealership, i got an engine code and TRAC OFF light. the engine code is P0171, system too lean. i already tried spraying the MAFS with electronic parts cleaner from autozone, but I'm holding off on manually erasing the code to see if it resets on its own after a few drive cycles. we'll probably know by tonight if it worked since we drove around using that car all day (engine light still on).
why does the TRAC OFF light come on, shutting off traction control? separate issue? the dealership is going to diagnose/fix the issue on monday, just curious about what you guys think the issue could be.

Lexus Champion
google phatg20 lexus - but that's the fsm not the owners manual. i misunderstood what you were asking, and you're screwed. of course, sometimes you can find weird toyota/lexus loopholes that let you access it [the Owner's Manual] from a wbsite. i hacked the nissan one that way. maybe theres a similiar thing for lexus.
