Default How To: Bypass nav system in 05 ES330

Hi Does any body know how to bypass the nav system in 05 ES330 so that it will allow me to use nav while in motion? I'm used to a portable GPS system which allows me to anything while driving and lil upset with this so called 'safety' feature of Lexus.

Did anyone tried it before?

Thanks.

Found this temporary work-around. However, it resets every time you shut off the car. But it's not that difficult or time consuming based on the video. Note I haven't tried this myself.

the navi system prohibits you from entering a destination while the car is in motion...? that's terrible. i mean i'm all for keeping people from being distracted while driving and all, but i didn't figure the car manufacturer would do that.

There's also some wiring modifications you can do per some Google searches I came across but I didn't bookmark them as they weren't for my '02 ES300 specifically. But it sounded simple enough. Open up the cover by the shifter, cut two wires that cause the NAV to think the vehicle is perpetually parked, and VIOLA! Nav is unlocked all the time. These plans appear to be for sale on eBay for about $25.

Default Video posted by GASTRIC shows NAV disablement override

All: Check out the video that GASTRIC posted. It shows an easy-as-pie method to override the disablement of the NAV system's buttons when driving.

Of course, there is a method appearing elsewhere where you can snip wires and get a permanent override. I'm not expert, but I'd rather not risk the possible warranty loss.

From what I've read, though, it only works for models 2006 and earlier.

Cory

PS - PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN DRIVING. Thanks!

Hey, everyone. Wow, it's been 9 years since I posted this.

I bought a DVD map upgrade a while back and now the menu-based override doesn't work any more. Anyone know how to enable the NAV while driving again?

Thanks!
