Just moved from the US to British Columbia, Canada and brought my 2006 ES330 with me. Surprisingly, it failed federal inspection because of lack of "hard wired" daytime running lights (DRL); apparently the "auto" DRL switch on the US Lexus is not sufficient. Any suggestions regarding the best way to deal with this? (e.g., changing the light switch on the steering wheel column to a Canadian switch, changing the DRL relay, some other mod, etc.).
I have the HID lights option (with adjusting lights) and don't want Canadian Tire messing with my system. Would appreciate any advice so I can talk to the local Lexus dealership with some informed insight.
Many thanks.

Personally, I wouldn't trust them to change a flat tire

Anyways, welcome to Canada, welcome to B.C. and welcome to Club Lexus!!

Seems like you can probably just change the headlight switch to a Canadian one and you will be fine. That's just a guess though. Otherwise, if I were you, I would search the net for similar mods done on other cars.
The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is pretty complicated and probably not worth it. That would be to power the DRLs from the battery using a relay harness and somehow use the 12V accessory plug as a switch since the plug doesn't work when the car is turned off.
There's definitely a simpler way than that.
