Default Audio ?.......

I just bought my wife a 00 ES and the previous owner installed a Kenwood cd changer but unfortunately I didn't test it before we bought it. I just found out that it's not working. So I was thinking of replacing the factory unit with after market. Has anyone done this without losing the factory woodgrain panel. Cause my wife will not give up the woodgrain so replacing it with a dashkit is not an option. If you have can you post pics especially if you have a 00 ES.

TIA,

So first off welcome to CL. Now about your cd changer is this the factory installed stereo because if it is you can just insall the factory cd changer. Or if you really want to improve it buy the dash kit and custom glue /stain your own wood grain for it. I've seen it done here before with great success.

Thanks Choas for the welcome, No the changer is not the factory one it's aftermarket. Do you know if we can take the wood grain off the factory radio and glue it to the new dash kit? If we can then that would be great, I don't know my wife has a fetish with woodgrain. Ever since I bought my Audi she really loves it. Even when we were buying this car she was like aww there's no wood trim by the windows only by the buttons and the stereo.

Thanks,

What I was asking if it was a factory stereo but due to the wood grain I assume its a yes. I am the same way with the wood grain you know there are kits out there now that let you put wood grain all over the inside of the car. Now back to your cd changer your best bet is to replace with a factory cd changer and harness it will give you less headaches.
