Exclamation ***Please Title Your Threads with either ES model Year or 1/2/3/4/ES designation!!***

Hello everyone. My first Lexus is a 1992 ES 300 manual, still going strong! This forum has many different ES models in it, so to make it easier for people, please do one of the following in your title
1. Put the year ES you are talking about (example; 1997, 2002, etc)
OR
2. Use the generation designation I came up with
-1ES=ES 250
-2ES=1992-1996 model
-3ES=1997-2001 model
-4ES=2002-2006 model

Thanks!!!

Mike

Is this mainly because people keep posting "Help! Broken!" And we have no idea how to help them because we don't know what year they have?

I, myself, am starting to get bored with seeing "Wont run" day after day, I'm quite envious of the SC and GS forums.

Also the percentage of help given is way higher than updates provided. If you browse the forum youll see. Some folks are providing pictures, diagrams, links, etc etc. and the thread dies with no update.

Very true! It's only courteous that the OP comes back and lets ppl know the outcome of whatever issue he/she was asking advice about. Otherwise, no one knows if the problem was ever resolved or not. I've lost count of the number of times I've done a search on a particular topic and read through a whole thread hoping for a solution to the problem and then end up at a dead-end! Help and advice were given and the OP says "thanks, I'll try that"", but then never returns to post the results, which makes the whole thread kinda pointless.

^Yea hence come the urge for noobs to make pointless new threads that end with simple solutions. Oh and 1SICKLEX thanks for trying to enforce some common sense in the es section

For my car, for threads, I would use 2ES 5spd 3VZFE just to give people some idea, however, my first post would have my signature, but others without detailed signature should do that still. 2ES 4AT 1MZFE is another wildly different version in many respects while being similar to mine.
The 3ES and later gens can forego the transmission choice.
I think 3ndgen ES would also be a good description, as well as a year like 1998 ES. Those later year generations often have more similiar engine choices in the generation and transmission too.

I also wish people would say what was the sol'n in the end.

I, for one, am a complete n00b to this forum and appreciate suggestions on proper etiquette such as this. Otherwise, I have no idea what's proper or helpful. Thanks for the tips!
