Filling tank at half way.. More expensive?

I have an 05 Lexus Es 330 and noticed that when I fill the gas tank at half way it cost me something like $30.00 but when I fill full tank it comes out like $40.00.

Is the tank designed differently that the top half is bigger? or is there something wrong?

That can't be right how many gallons is your tank mine is 18.?

Just keep the bottom half full, it's cheaper.

It's like that on my car too. I noticed that during the 1st half tank i.e. from full to 1/2 I get 200 miles but from 1/2 to empty i get about 150 miles.
