On a '95 ES300, just replaced stock rims 15x6 w/ 45 offset by IS300 stock rims (17x7.5 offset should be the same b/c all wheels fit; tires are stock Yokohama 250/50/17).
On the rears, I had a tire shop put in some $20 spacers which look like 10mm. Those are after market, so that I don't think they are hubcentric. No fender rolling at this point.
When I go on the freeway ramp, it sounds like the rear rubs the fender (I think). When I turn, it sounds likewise. BTW, I make wide turn now since these are 17" rims.
When I travel on the freeway @ 60mph, even small bumps make my rear rub against the fender I believe. If I do 80mph, my front would rub. Either my suspension are too soft or they are worn out, you think? I think that these are original suspension set, and I have about 170k miles on them.
*** When I had my 15", I could do sharp corner, fly over the dip or railroad w/o any rubbing. Now, hm... ***
If I want to replace suspension for front and rear, should I go w/ KYB or should I get stiffer set to prevent fender rubbing? Don't want to do fender rolling at this point. Particularly for the rear, what do I need to replace -- coil over, struts, suspensions, and what else.
I want to keep the cost down and keep the original height, so where should I start?

I have the IS300 rims on my es as well. I have not been having any issues with rubbing or suspension damage.
225/45/17 BFGoodrich Tires.
I replaced the tires at costco and they recommended 250/50/17. They couldn't even drive the car off the lift since the rear tires were rubbing![Egads!](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/pat.gif)
They would not install the 225/45/17 oem size so i had to go to Discount tire.

Maybe that is my problem, 250/50/17. ![Egads!](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/pat.gif)
How do you like those thin tires? Can fly over humps on FWY or dips at high speed, or do you have to slow down to watch for potholes now? Thanks for feedback.

there is no such thing as a 250 50 17. all tires end with a 5 as the third digit in the first size sequence. you must have 255 50 17, in which case i can't beleive you even said ok, as they must look like crap on there with that big of a sidewall.
stock is 300 tires are 215 45 17 or 225 45 17.
i'd go with 215 45 17 and that will fix all your probelms.

Actually, 225/45/17 is smaller in diameter than the oem 205/50/15
I would rather have more sidewall than a gaping wheel well gap. the ride quality has suffered going from 15-17 in rims, so i don't think having a very small sidewall would help either. Of course, the 255/55/17 does not work since it rubs horribly so a good compromise is 225/45/17

When I bought these rims, I thought that they were brand new w/o a scratch that night. Naah, they have minor scuffs, not sure how b/c they don't look like curb rash. As far as the tires, one is a high performance Yokohama AVID H4s (255/50/17) while the remaining three are ultra high performance ADVAN (250/50/17).
Any how, problem fixed. Went to a local shop for fender roll ($60); price was a little high compared to other members on this forum. However, I was really impressed with this shop. 3 young young young guys. One is like an entrepreneur who initiated the idea of open a shop for just pure mod cars. Friends hang out at this place like some meeting place. These guys are so organized. When they are done, they put things in places where they get them. Others always know where to get specific tools when they need to do certain jobs. Even I don't even have such trait and discipline.![Uhh...](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/1387914497.gif)
Now I can fly over railroad and dips. Such idea makes me so tempted to drop the cars and add sway bars on thin tires. The only draw back is no $ right now. Thank you all who responded.

Edit: I had 215/45/17 NOT 225/45/17
Kphu: Do the 215/50/17's work w/o rubbing/spacers? My BF goodrich tires have 12,000 miles on them, and i'll have to replace them in another 2,000 or so
