Be carefull on what size tires you put on the back because I had 240 or 245 on the back, and they were on my strut. We did'nt notice it at first, but then we saw it. it will really mes up a lot of things like that. I only had 17 inch neepers on there also.

dbilex, welcome to CL. There have been MANY discussions in the past with regards to putting 20's on an ES. Here's a quick list of some of the threads.

You'll find that the majority of people mention that 20's on an ES are possible, but will definitely cause problems down the road, such as with the rubbing on the fenders and suspension. 19's are a better route but I'd still heed caution on the rubbing part

20's are too big and you'll have clearance problems with turning and obviously with a load of people/luggage in the car. 19's would be the biggest I would go for a Gen3 97-01 and 18's for a Gen2 92-96. 19's on a Gen1 is pushing it.

I had custom made springs made for my 94 es300.

It's now dropped 2.5" all round.. and the muthaf@#ker scrapes everywhere.

I've only currently got 17" rims on it, and i wanted the top of the tyre to meet the guard.. but didn't realise that the undercarriage of the lex sits extremely low.. its a relatively bumpy ride at times due to the hard shocks i put in.. but it handles like a dream.

So i would say bolt the rims on first.. wait a week to let the car adjust to them, see how far the rim sits from the guards and then estimate how low to go

The way I see it, style of wheels and tires is more of a subjective choice than the "mainstream" hit. However if you're talking about SUVs for instance, you know it's all about 24's and up, and lots of chrome

Basically, go with your own choice of wheels and tires, and don't worry what others prefer over your selection. As long as you make the decision with legitimate reasons, that's all that matters

wow... thanks for all the reply's! I took a look at what you guys said about 20's... and i agree with you 100%. Much to big for this car. Anyway i was looking though the gallery and saw "idog's" car, which i think sits perfect with a perfect size wheel/tire. Can you guys tell me what size wheel/tire he has on there, along with what suspension he has. I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks alot-
