Default Brake & Rotor time

It all started yesterday morning. I was just driving right along when suddenly my brakes stopped working! Okay, maybe I exaggerated a little but the pedal was to the floor and the stopping distance was pretty long-it was pretty scary. Turns out my brake pads wore abnormally and caused my brake pads to fall way below spec without any warning squeals. You guys probably know where I'm going with this. I had a brake inspection done and my rotors were grooved, pads worn, and the master cylinder needs to be replaced. Very expensive! So I bought the Camry repair manual, which I hear will work, and I'm just going to do the work myself....well at least the brakes and rotors. Let me know if any of you guys have done your own brake or rotor installations and have some tips for me.Or maybe even just some sympathy. Yeah, all a that.

Brakes are easy for the most part. I dont know about the master cylinder though. If your rotors are scared beyond repair you should buy new ones on nopionline.com, or some online site. Then get brake pads, and your ready for that part.

To install the new stuff, remove the wheel, and then look behind the caliper and you will see a little nut towards the bottom of it. Loosen that up and then pull up on the caliper and it will swing up and off of the rotor. You can now easily unclip the pads. The rotor has a center pin. Take the pin out, and then unscrew the center nut. Then the rotor will pull right off. Place the new rotor on and do everything in reverse again. Master cylinder wise, I cant help you, but maybe the repair manual will. Hope that helps a little.

For those of you who are seriously thinking about a big brake upgrade, it's now possible. This kit will fit ES300 models.

Thanx for the instructions bro....I'll let you know how it turns out. I'm hoping to take pictures and post the step by step instructions once I figure out if I'm doing it right on one side. This way we'll all have it for reference sake.

Damn, that sounds serious. Last august I had New brake's and Rotors installed on all four wells. Cost around $448 at NTB.
