2002 Stays in 2nd gear too long

I found the receipt for the time I took my ES300 in to have the Lexus dealer check the transmission. Here is what the receipt says regarding trying to fix the shifting problem -
"TRANSMISSION SHIFTING UNDER ACCELERATION HAS JERK FROM GOING 2ND TO 3RD.
TSIB
COMPLETED TSIB TC004-03 TRANSMISSION ECM CALIBRATION EG5017 26 99".
Someone out there may be able to steer you towards something on the internet.

Try to force upshift. The Transmission kickdown command is given at a certain point in the TPS sensor range and can be played with a little. When it seems to hang a shift too late try to give a little throttle followed by letting off almost to idle position. If it shifts up then the issue lies in the programming. If it still hangs the shift then it could be a few other issues like the temp sensor not allowing the ECU to enter open loop or a bad direct clutch speed sensor or even a faulty or dirty MAF sensor. A good and well trained diagnostic tech could find this in his sleep, However one has to be able to log data and be able to think a little outside of the box during a test drive. In a vehicle's operation a lot of things have to be just right in order to act like it should and to the ECU that is a massive web of signals and programming parameters which rely on each other to be able to take the next step in the operational chain. Sometimes a little tweak in the programming can reveal some problems you may have had for a long time. See if you can talk directly to the mechanic working on this issue for you and ask questions about the things I mention in this response. It may be enlightening.
