I was searching and checkin out Pheonix's free mods list. I want to advance the timing and lean out my AFM Cog on my 93 ES. I can advance the timing and lean out the AFM myself but I wanted to know how much I should lean it out. Has anyone with the 92-93 ES done this to their car? If so how much did you lean it out? Thanx for the help.

If you bump up the timing, make sure you use the highest grade non-race gas (93-94 octane) available at your local station.

I myself wanted to adjust afm cog, however Pheonix never told us how much to turn the cog for an N/A es300 to get the perfect amount of fuel and air.

Mine is set to 2 clicks lean, any leaner it idles poor and has crappy throttle response. I only noticed more power at 4000 RPM and up. And for the timing, its running at 12*. Thats as high as I can go without it pinging like crazy, but it runs great. Just remined me I need to get my emissions done this month!!! BTW these air flow meters cant compensate for exhaust leaks like electronic mass air flow sensors can so make sure your exhaust is 100% sealed before you mess with it or youll have no power at all. And pull the EFI fuse after you set the cog.

Thanx 92ES5spd for the feedback im curious about your timing now. When I was searching I saw Pheonix said to adjust the timing between 15-17* and your saying if you go past 12* it pings hmm I guess I going to have to do a couple test runs to see where my car runs best. I am doing this on sunday I'll let you know how it goes.

I advanced my timing today and my car seems to have a little more throttle response but I need to a longer drive to see if it really does or if it just my if it was my imagination. I did not however adjust my AFM Cog taking 92ES5Sp advice because I just noticed my exhaust is leaking a little bit

You can still adjust the cog if you want to, just mark the tooth you started from so you can return to that setting if it runs worse. What did you end up setting the distributor to?

I left it at 16*. It runs pretty good there and I didnt want to advance to far so I left it there. I going to get an exhuast made soon after that I probably will adjust the Cog.
