I have seen this a couple times as well. They crawl into the valley between the two heads and make nests since it is warm there. Same with the 4.0 V8 cars. A lot of times they will chew through the knock sensor wires causing a CEL.

More than likely the reason it wont start is because the coolant temp reading is gone. The two major inputs the vehicle looks for are coolant temp and and MAF readings. Other sensors are for small adjustments. When the Coolant temp circut is open the car reads -40*F. Its basically dumping too much fuel to try to compensate for the low temp it thinks its in.

Goodluck with getting it fixed. Hopefully he didnt make it down to the valley and get the knock sensors as well.

thanx guys, glad i can provide the good laugh lol.

Got it fixed! $200 including towing. towing was the b*tch though, cost $80. I could have done it myself, in fact I already soldered one wire at home but I dont have a portable soldering iron I can take out and I wanted to make sure nothing else is damaged.

Yea, Next time I see this rat, he'll be kept alive, hang up side down, and tortured till he give me back my 200 bucks =)

Yea a friend just told me his Audi had a squirrel nest underneath once, but didn't do any damage, lucky him! The shop did the computer test after the repair and said everything else's fine, I'll just trust their words.

Or tie him live to your car's antenna like one of those racoon tails and then take him for a spin on the freeway at like 80 MPH !!!
With all the wire he ate, he could even help pick up weak signals on your radio!

Good plan! And if you could bag enough of his brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, etc, you could make yourself a nice set of rat hide seat covers! If you used a shotgun, they could even be perforated seat covers.....sweeeeet!
