Running car with only 4 lug nuts
I took it to a shop to do major work on car. I think they kept my wheel lock key b/c I cant find the key in my trunk and they obviously moved the stuff around in my trunk. So i took it to my friends shop to do some break job and I noticed i didnt have the key so he had to use a trick just to get the wheel lock off. Basically I need a new set of 4 lug nuts but i cant find the right length lug nut from the local auto store, so i am probably going to have to buy it from toyota dealer or online. Anyone know where to get it online? Is it bad to run a car with only 4 out of the 5 lug nuts for each wheel?

I recently had a broken lock lug and was told by my local reputable tireshop that riding with 4 lugs is ok, but you don't want to do it any more than is necessary to get the 5's on.

lmao, thats good to hear. My friend said it is fine. The guy from kragen said it isnt good and can do damage in long run.... another guy from kragen said it isnt recommended. I cant find the lug nut, its actually a hassle to get, prob have to end up going to the dealer...

Youre exposing the studs to water which will cause the threads to rust and get ****ed up. Id get the 5th lugnut back on asap, or fix/replace the studs. Im not trying to cause an issue, but you obviously didnt tell them where your wheel lock is, since they had to dig through your car to find it in the first place. I hope your remaining lugnuts are tighter than 76 ft/lb, especially if you have corrosion on the hub!!! Not good.

If one lug nut was missing from one wheel....
but all four wheels
I recommend only Lexus locks...i bought some aftermarket ones from Kragen and they didn't fit (even though the package said so..)

I had a similar problem when I took mine to a tire shop to repair a flat, I had to drop the car 3 weeks later at a different shop to work on my tranny and the guys couldn't find my wheel lock - I went back to the tire joint and told them (thankfully the manager remembered me) and they eventually found it.
I'd be seriously peeved if they left all four locking lugs off....you might want to mention they need to consider the liability potential for such an oversight.

The shop that i think forgot(when i opened my trunk, i saw the small black bag that holds my tools including wheel lock was not in the small compartment on right side of trunk but in the middle of trunk....) to give me my lock back is far from my house, so its basically a waste of gas and time just to get it back and I don't want to wait another weekend for my friend to work on my car at his shop. Its hard to get him to work on my car.
Those lug nuts are special i believe because they are 1.9" long, all the lug nuts i see at the auto shop at like around 1.4 or something. useless...
thanks for your help everyone

i ran with 3 lug nuts for 2 month without knowing it. its scary, but looks like it was designed to be able to withstand this, but i dont recommend repeating my experience. 4 is fine, im pretty sure.
