Default Emblem on Steering Wheel is Faded

Hey, the L logo on my wife's steering wheel has the chrome rubbed off of it in numerous spots. It sucks to say the least. Anybody know how I can get it refinished or is it possible to replace it without buying another airbag? Thanks.

I belive the mounting pins are molded into the airbag. You may be able to pry it off, then glue on a new on. But you cant purchase it seperately so......

o, ok.......

Man, I know this isn't the original topic of the thread but my wife's "Check Engine" light just came on. I was driving her car and first I noticed three lights on "Check Engine" light, Brake light, and I'm not sure what the other one was. The first thing I did was pull the car over and turn it off and back on again. After I did this the "Check Engine" light stayed on but the rest of the lights went off.

Go to your local autozone (if you have any there) and borrow a OBD II scanner (free). Then plug it into the OBD II port and you'll get a code and a description of whats wrong.
O and check to see if the gas cap is screwed on tightly...sometimes that could trigger a check engine light.

Tried the gas cap already. I'm taking her Lex to the Toyota dealership Monday but I might try Autozone in the mean time. She kinda doesn't want me to drive the car unless it is going to get fixed and I don't blame her. Never know.....could cause more damage to whatever the problem is.

As long as the light is not flashing while driving, It will not cause any damage driving with the light steadily on.

The light went off last night and I took it to the dealer today. The code returned was P0500 - speed sensor malfunction. The Toyota service advisor said that it was rare and that it probably was an odd glitch. He said we shouldn't worry about it. Any advice?

How much did the dealer charge to read the codes?

Maybe you should try plastx on the emblem.. That stuff makes a lot of stuff look good.

I forget but it was at least $50. Can't PlastX have bad effects on the leather?
