Retrofitting better projectors is the only way to defeat glare. And I have seen HID kits in reflector housings that leave me with a purple spot in my eyes for minutes. However these projectors are pretty decent at handling the glare of an HID kit. I wouldn't say they are as great as the TSX projectors(or anything around that caliber), but a project like that can set you back financially. You also have to have the time and skill to retrofit projectors. If you think you are up for the challenge I say go for it.

The glare is reduced since we have a projector set up.
And the glare that we have is no worse than large trucks and SUV's with OEM Hid's.
Retrofitting is very expensive and time consuming, especially for our older cars.

I was just looking to install with what I have. So with our OEM projectors, the glare isnt bad? Thats good because thats what I intended to do.

OEM projectors, after market HID. Although, Don't trust my p.o.s. camera if you think the headlight shot is uber-blinding. That shot just captures the color temperature really well.

hi there... i have been down the same thought process to get HID's - or not - for my ES300 for months.

The content of this clip worries me:

Anyone got first hand experience?
Pete.

It all depends, the ES300 lights being Projectors, work GREAT, and do not cause any blinding. Headlights that have a textured lens do not work well, at all. Clear lens headlights soemtimes work pretty well, mainly the ones that have a nice round housing (like those on my mom's '05 Camry).

These are 4300k HID's on my '92-'94 headlights with the inside painted a semi gloss gunmetal.

Our 2ES lights don't really have much glare despite being halogen projectors and the cut off is pretty decent as well. If I were any generation without a projector set up I would not put HIDs in unless I retrofit a projector into there first.

Cleaned projector lens and 55W HID kit at about 10 parking spaces away from the far wall. Absolutely no glare.

Hi,

The video you are looking at is using a car with reflective headlights (not projector).
