New Here and............
What year do you guys like the best in the older style of ES?
I haven't bought one YET, but am pretty sure I'm going to buy a 2001 w/68k mile on it. Only problem is that I have to fly about 900 miles to get it and drive back. It's a 1 owner car with a clean Carfax, so I'm hoping there are no problems with it.
Do you guys really find them reliable and nice to drive? Thoughts or anything I should do with the car when I get it other than have it totally checked out?
Thanks and I look forward to talking with you all.

I personally prefer the look of the second generation (92-96) over the third generation (97-01) because of the looks of the 2nd Gen. The second gen's have a sportier look and have a more aggressive front end as when they were built the were Lexus's "Sport Sedan". I also prefer the 3vz engine(2nd Gen) because of the mechanical design (cast iron block, thick rods) and it's easy to modify it. Unfortunately it's hard to find a 2nd gen with low miles.
Nice find though, And welcome to the Club!

Just a guess, but based on his newness to the ES line, I'm betting the OP is thinking anything "older" is pre-ES330 (4th gen body style). Just a guess...the ole "pick MY generation" offerings might not apply here.
Here a little ES Knowlege for ya, Xfactor70.
If you end up going with the "older" 2001 with 68k miles, you'll likely not be disappointed. With these cars, and most (?) Lexuses in general, the condition of the car should be examined and emphasized more than the mileage.
No matter what "generation" you go with, you're not likely to be disappointed UNLESS you're looking for a highly-modifiable vehicle - the ES - ANY generation is NOT highly-modifiable. If you're looking for a stylish sedan that's darn reliable...come on in...the water's fine!

Here's a couple pics of her
There were some decent 3rd gens out there, but not a lot of 1 owner one's. I also dig the Silver color. Here's
They are asking $12,700 which I found to be pretty good. Lot of them are priced higher with more miles even.
I LOVE the looks of these cars! Would you buy a car that didn't come with the car manual? Where can you get one if it doesn't?
THanks!
