I would love to know myself. I kept running into that time after time when I was doing the research for my own upgrade and for the list that became the sticky.
I noticed that the first years KYB lists for ES300 serviceable struts is for the 94-96 models (although they show cartridges available for the later ES250s).
I even went back through my library of car magazines to see if they indicated any major changes to the chasis for '94, but found nothing.
I think they might've done it just to screw with our heads.

(Welp, now out to the garage to replace a non-operating license plate LED. I just LOVE loosening all those nuts and removing the entire light to get to one tiny bulb.)

During my research I didn't find any differences between the 92-94 vs 95-96.

It motivated me to update the 2nd gen KYB part numbers (also inspired by Badviper22 ) which I've done.

In the listing, Felony from TN had already given me the Solara Tein S-techs as a possibility, but no one had the part number - you just fixed that for us!

Thanks again, and grats on the upgrade!
Sloooooooooow, can you include this in the stickly above? I think its an important point.

How to check for fake/conterfeit teins.

I honestly I thought this was already confirmed but I guess no sticky on it so now there is formal confirmation.

I'm kind of regretting not going with the 18" RX330 rims but the reason for going with the 17" i sbecause the tire size for the 18" was expensive in order to get it to match up to factory from 15" wheels.

I was looking for 215/45/18, for some reason not many available manufacturers and where they did have them it was expensive.

I believe that 225/40/18 is just as close to stock height as well.

It's close but 215/45/18 is closer. When I was researching which rim size to get I used the wheel size calculator from the following website.

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Using my OEM tires of 205/65/15 as a reference point, based on the website, you get the results below for the other tires specs.

Tire Size Comparison

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
205/65-15 5.2in 12.7in 25.5in 80.1in 791 0.0%
215/50-17 4.2in 12.7in 25.5in 80.0in 792 -0.1%
215/45-18 3.8in 12.8in 25.6in 80.5in 787 0.5%
215/40-18 3.4in 12.4in 24.8in 77.8in 814 -2.8%

Based on the results from the wheel size calculater. The 215/50/17 came closes to stock at a -0.1% difference. I was going to go with the 215/45/18's but like I said for some reason the pricing for those tires were high and limited manufacturers of that size. Because of the pricing it swayed me to go towards the IS300 17'" wheels.

The tires you went with are a little more off at -2.8% which will slightly alter your speedometer. It did occur to me that as your tire wears out the height will change somewhat so I guess it should be accurate for the most part.

Edit:

Note the tire width isn't taken into account so 215/45/18 would have no difference then 225/45/18 since we're only concerned with the height of the wheel when compared to OEM. The width matters when it comes to the width of the rim and offset.

While 225 or 215 does stand for its width it does effect its height. My rims came with 255/40/18's when I bought them and they did not fit due to height. Now if we use the tire calculator it shows this
225/40/18: 3.5in. 12.5in 25.1in. 78.8 804.0 -1.6%

What I don't understand on your data is the variance percent. Example according to the calculator the 215/40/18 is -3.8% not -2.8%? Which I got at the bottom of the screen saying how slow it would be going compared to the speedo

Interesting point, I didn't think that the width would make a difference but I guess it would make sense since the thickness of the sidewalls or something must have changed because of the width. What did you use as the OEM size?

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
205/65-15 5.2in 12.7in 25.5in 80.1in 791 0.00%
215/50-17 4.2in 12.7in 25.5in 80.0in 792 -0.10%
215/45-18 3.8in 12.8in 25.6in 80.5in 787 0.50%
215/40-18 3.4in 12.4in 24.8in 77.8in 814 -2.80%
225/45-18 4.0in 13.0in 26.0in 81.6in 777 1.90%
225/40-18 3.5in 12.5in 25.1in 78.8in 804 -1.60%

I don't know what I did wrong I just went back and did it again and proved your results so idk. I think I remember trying to do the same as you at one point and go with the 215/45/18 to find it was costly and hard to find. I did some more research and went with the 225/40/18's it doesn't throw it off that much at all. I also assumed that width made no diff. and it ended up costing me in the end.
