Default (Solved w/ Pics) - Oil Filter Stuck!!! Any Oppinions, Thoughts, Suggestions (PLEASE)

I'm not to experianced when working with cars so I usually have my father do the oil changes. After watching him a few times I was able to learn how to do this maintenance procedure. So now its time to do the oil change again (for my 2nd time) and now I can't get the oil filter OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It seem to be on there so tight that after a few trys to loosen it, the filter is all dented from two tools we tried to get it off with.

If push comes to shove, drill it off. My uncle and I have had to do this a few times.

Go to autozone and get yourself this:

It's about $7 and it's the best damn tool I've used. I've never had a filter that I couldn't take off.

I once punched a screwdriver thru the filter and used that as a lever to get it off. A bit messy but it got the job done. Make sure you oil the gasket and get the old gasket off.

Also make sure not to put a FRAM filter back on your car.

That works equally as well. I love this tool. I got a chance to use it again today and it worked flawlessly. No need to mess around with caps.

Next time use a drip of oil to lubricate o-ring. That should help a bit. Hand-tighten the filter also.

Yeah only go 3/4 to one full turn after hand tight. The mobil one is already lubricated but i put a little oil on there anyway. I've had to use a screwdriver myself it is a messy procedure. Good info on the fram too they're garbage. Don't forget to fill the filter with a little oil as well b4 you put it on.

that tool is cool, i've used a similar one. The position of the filter on these engines is not oil wrench friendly, to say the least

Fram filters are so weak.
Stick to OEM. And don't "GORILLA" tight them.

Good job on getting it out. I use the same tool Gteg sugg.
