Ive noticed since i bought the car that when i start it and the temp gauge is at cold the tranny holds gear for the first 5-10 mins of driving. It usually holds third. Ive heard that this is normal because it helps warm things up quicker. Is this true?

Agreed....if you want improve this slightly.....switch to Amsoil synthetic ATF....this will greatly improve your shift quality, especially when the tranny is cold.
