K&N OIL filter HP-2009 vs HP-1002

I have read the thread and noticed a key "bit" of information missing. When you choose to replace your oil filter with an oversized filter, the capacity of your oil sump is now slightly increased. it is a no brainer that if you were to run the larger capacity sump (oversized filter) on, lets say, just 5 quarts instead of the now required 5.25 quarts (assuming the oversied filter is .25 quart larger) then your oil pressure would be lower due to the lack of oil required. now obviously you would need to find out the difference between the capacity of each filter, and the difference in pressure may be slight, but less oil pressure equates to less flow through the filter. You want your flow rate to be as close to stock as possible, so that filteration is quick, and does not inhibit the engines lubrication system. that is why their is a hype about reusable filters, because they use a stainless steel mesh (which they claim to filter just as well) they can achive up to "7 times more flow"(K&N) without bypassing the filter media.
so to answer all the questions
oversized filter are good if you satisfy the new sump capacity
Flow is good
low oil pressre is bad, and high oil pressure is also bad (as the bypass valve will eliminate filteration), thats why compensating for the new filters capacity will alow the lubrication system to run as if stock, only with a larger filter area and more oil
larger filter area and more oil is, and always will be, good.
P.S. if anyone is interested in Reusable oil filters, K&N has the SS-1002 and SS-2009 which is the reusable equivelant of the HP-1002 and HP-2009 (the 2009 being the oversized for both filters) . K&N's reusable filter, unfourtunatly cost 220$. K&P engineering and FLO filters also makes similar filters around the same price.
hope this all helped!

Why would you roll the dice in the hope of outsmarting the Engineers that deigned the original Lexus/Toyota oil filter. They know your engine te best.
If it was my car, I would stick to the OE Lexus filter, use Synthetic oil with the recomended viscosity, and perform the oil change schedules as specified, instead of trying to extend the interval.
Anything else, and you are looking for trouble.

At this point I would like to say I have succsesfully upgraded my, filter to oversized. I am now running the royal purple equivealant to the k& n hp-2009. The new oil capacity is now a whopping six quarts, in which I fill it with royal purple hps 10w-30. seeing as the oils pressure DOES NOT deviate from stock, I have concluded that this upgrade IS A succsess. I would also like to note the I have done a little research and in motorsports applications, like the vertex sc400, it Is not uncommon to find the exact same setup. But on top of that, amsoil makes a heavy duty double filter kit that mimics the capacity of the larger filter. Would also like to note that the oil is now running roughly 2% cooler.
