Default 98 ES300 seat memory control

Does anyone know how to take off the panel that houses the memory conrols along the side of the driver's seat? Mine have never worked since I bought the car, and the #1 button sticks in if you push it down, like it's gooped up or getting stuck. Not that it's a big deal moving the seat back after my fiance drives it, but the feature would be cool to use.

I have the identical situation. Wouldn't it be nice? Anyway, on here I think your gonna find very few have working memory. I know for sure were not the only one. I have no idea how to tackle the problem, neither does anyone else as far as I can see.

isnt the panel able to be removed by unscrewing the bolts holding the whole plastic piece on the side?

I took apart the memory housing before on the passenger side of my ES when it was broken since it was like that when I purchased the car. Since I don't have the ES, I can't recall what/where the bolts are to unscrew but I'm pretty sure there's one behind the seat and another under the front end of the seat. It's not too difficult to do yourself.

thats exactly how you do it, theres a phillips screw in the back and one under the front of the panel. the back can be accessed from the back seat, then after you get the one under the front of the panel out, shift the panel towards the back of the car, it should unlatch, it is now off!

good luck

Thanks for the info. I just didn't want to break the plastic trying to fix something that's not a necessity.

Lexusk8 - did you ever fix your memory control? If so what was wrong with it?

Mine was stuck also when i purchased my car. I just took the whole assembly off and sprayed the buttons with some WD-40 and it loosened up. Now it works perfectly.

Nah, there was nothing wrong with the memory control. It's just the plastic housing itself was cracked, and I replaced it with a new part I purchased from the dealer.
