Default I Got The Blues

Finally got my set finished... It took alot of needle prep as the orange stripe had to be carefully hot knifed and filed with a ignition file to make a perfect rectangular hole in the tip... After soldering in the new blue led with the two 330 ohm resistors as per Lexucans DIY the rextangular hole had to be filled with a very small amount of clear silicone just enough to fill the hole like a clear lense... Also a small amount of black silicone was used to cover the back side of the led to eliminate the blue glow on the black guage face... I had to also use a small amount of silicone to counterweight the needles...

Wow! Now that looks SWEET!!!

Good work!

What would REALLY finish it off are some white/blue LEDs for the gauge backlighting.

...and a blue security LED, of course

Holy Doodle! Those suckers are BRIGHT!

What are the specs on those LEDs - DC forward current in mA? Voltage rating?
And what's the package - look bigger than 0805....maybe 1206?

You need White LED backlighting!

Lxucan...I was thinking the exact same thing.

Perfer the White LEDS for the background though to highlight the blue on the needles.

esucaris1,

How about adding a dimmer to the power source of the led to control it's brightness?

Yeah, the White/Blue LEDs I was referring to are mostly white with a slightly blue hue. I think those would really compliment esucaris1's new needles and still provide enough contrast between the needles and the faces of the gauges. I think they're called "cool white" LEDs.

But it's looking like some backlighting LEDs are a unanimous vote

I would put a potentiometer in a put in on a **** thus giving you a nice dimmer but I def. agree again with everyone that you need white leds in the back.

I think that once I have the led's in the backlighting it will balance out and the whole thing can be turned down with the dimmer switch
