Default Plastic piece under the front of the car... Question!

Hey guys, I have a 1998 ES and underneath the engine on the bottom of the car, their is a grey plastic guard piece or something. Well, mines came loose and was hanging on 1 side of the car, so while I was getting an oil change at a local independent shop that specializes in Toyota/Lexus and the mechanic tried to put it back, but couldn't so he just removed it.

My question is... do I really need that piece and would it be fine if I didnt have it anymore?

If you absolutely cannot find a way to put them back on, thats ok, but the main purpose is to direct the flow of air on the underside of the car and to keep excessive water and mud from splashing into the engine bay.

Cool

Just a very small economy drop from loosing it. You can make a new one easy enough and bolt/clip it like stock, or be cool and use zip-ties like i do.

Cool

plus zip-ties hold all the plastic bits much, much tighter than the clips ever possibly could.
