$2000?!?!?! That sounds like a rip off to me. Is that from the dealer? Don't take it to the dealer, just take it to a good mechanic who specializes in Lexus or other luxury cars. I have a 2005 and was only quoted $350 for my 60k service.

a 60k service is very important. all belts, filters and fluids are changed. fluid changes make the difference as to how long your engine, trans and brake system lasts.

I'm coming up to my 120,000 mile service here soon. I wasn't going to get it done, but with it goes into the shop the day after I bought the thing, I'm not taking any chances.

yeah make sure you get that tim8ing belt changed with the 120k, unless you had it done at 90k.

Change the plugs, filters, etc. Trans fluid. Serp. belt if necessary. Coolant if it doesn't look good. No need for the stealership. You have to remember most people never change brake fluid until they have a problem. Same goes for power steering.

i find even car 'experts' grossly under educated on brake fluid.
you have to change the brake fluid every 2 years, you might be able to do it less in a really dry climate AND rarely driven vehicle. else, you will end up with more problems, thus making it cost ineffective to not change it.
