just recently, my power has been going out while i'm driving. All electrical components shut off, except my engine is still running, and then comes back on 3-10 seconds later. When i catch it, i can hear a click coming from the dash cluster. Also, my taillight signal has been on, but i don't have any taillights out, and i've been losing power when i've had to brake hard. The battery is less than 6 months old.
I just came home from school, and got a personal best 35 mpg over a 500 mile trip.
My dad thinks it could be the alternator, computer, or a short (possibly caused by the taillights?)

 

try wiggling the ignition cylinder back and forth while the engine is running. it could be a bad ignition switch.

 

i'll try that. I should also note that while the power went off and i had the ignition off, i opened the door and the door sensor didn't light up. I think that's controlled by a different power source, independent of the ignition.

 

You could have a faulty BCM(Body Control Module) as well
