well, yeah, of course, i saw all the videos, but the point of this thread was for second gen.... perhaps you shhould make a thread for first gen? :>

es250 and m30 are both odd ***** that were imported as temp replacements. but both are rare and unique, and the m30 i like for purposes of modification [inline 6, RWD]. es250 is a glorified camry.

cool find... but I found myself watching like 10 - 20 reviews of random cars of that motor week '92 or whatever. Nostalgia... /sigh

There was also a comparison that included the LS400 and also a video that showed the LS400 win viewers choice award. As for the enthusiasts the e34 M5 and the E30 M3 plus sentra ser and supra 3000gt and so on very nice find.

I never realized the E34 M5 was that quick! 14 1/2 second quarter mile time, at 100mph, that's movin!

the one thing I want to know more about is the 68 dB at 60 mph thing. I mean, they also say the '93 q45 is 65 dB and the 93 nissan altima is 65 dB

thing is, I have not driven q45 of that vintage, though I know alot about it. it should be very quiet and fitler out other cars too with its very thick glass.

the altima should be quiet but not that quiet. further, it shouldn't filter out outside soudns as well as a q45 from trucks, and i used to own one -- the es 300 i have is way better at that. it's also a bit quieter inside.

but i wonder how they're test was done ... was there traffic, tires, weather, etc, they all affect it.

it so happens I have an SPL meter, and when I remember to, I'm going to go 60mph driving around, and write down the exact conditions and write down the measurements in dB - a weighting and c weighting. a weight is what they used for the motor week 93 test.

as a manual owner, i was happy to find it from the guy on youtube. thank him! dont thank me for posting this thread, you would have done the same i'm sure. its' just too good to pass up :>

the performance stats.... cars today, like the G35/G37 sedan? that's the equivalent of the es 300 back then. I have the feeling the G35 with it's higher torque at higher RPM, better gearing, better traction, is much better..... : >

This is also on par with my former 1979 Pontiac Firebird Formula with a 403 cubic inch V8 and a three speed automatic transmission.

I took it to a real dragstrip about 1984 and made about 10 timed runs. My best was a 15.92 at 89 mph. Almost exactly what this 181 cubic inch V6 ES300 got And I think the weights of both cars are close.

Nice post! Awesome. I can attest to the wheel hop. 16 flat in the 1/4 dosent surprise me, its pretty sporty, and it does pull hard right to red line. The said the hydraulic fan was exclusive to the ES 300, but every 3vz gen 3 Camry has the same setup, and I think the early 1mz's do too. Did not know leather was optional on the gen 2. Also, I heard that the 93 E53 tranny has different syncros than the 92. Not sure of thats true or not. I think the 5 speed 1mz Solaras use the same or updated version of that tranny, but those are rare also.

Very cool videos. The ES 300 is a very special car. The ES 300 manual version is even rarer. I'm very happy with my 1996 ES 300...
